Perhaps because if the penalty for rape or other sex offenses becomes too close to that for murder, offenders might see sense in making sure that their victims are unable to ever give evidence against them.. . Dead men (and women & children) tell no tales....... . If you are the offender, going to be sent to prison for ever (or executed) for the sex offence, you have ZERO reason not to comit murder too. You can only be executed once or serve one lifetime in prison.

Because Americans are bleeding heart liberals for the most part and its disgusting. Sex offenders should have their privates removed, if not put to death.

Our prisons have more people with marijuana charges in jails than they do rapists. Our country is more concerned with keeping their thumb over harmless stoners then they are about there children. We don't have a concern for the children, as we used to; Now it is this damn war on drugs. That's all it is.

Because our lawmakers are criminals themselves.

Becasue our country isn't fighting a war on rape...its a war on drugs. Hopefully when this war is done (mission accomplished?) we can begin the war on rape.. Seriously though there are some issues with the rape thing, especialy when you throw in statuory rape (and 18 year old having sex with a 16 year old) rape trials are difficult to run with a jury due to the emotional impact it has upon the jurors (at least those who are women or know women) I think its horrible that you will go to jail longer for intent to sell marijuana than you will for rape. Good question.

Well, the first answer hit the nail on the head. Lawmakers commit those very same crimes. With the flap over sexual offenders/child molesters getting released, or confined using mental health laws, logic was cast to the wayside. Instead of a mandatory life sentence or death sentence for rape, sexual abuse and ANY CRIME AGAINST A CHILD, which would ensure that the sicko never has the oppotunity to re-offend, lawmakers know that prisons are big business, rehab/mental health centers, insurance, and a host of other big money topics could be affected. With the help of state-run media, the USG, State and local governments conspire to distract the public from the fact that pedo-rings and sexual slaves exist here in the US. Research George H.W. Bush's White House in 1989. One of the D.C. papers had an exclusive story about male prostitutes, some underage, @ White House functions. Verifiable proof was offered, and if you follow the paper trail, a Court actually merged sexual abuse and rape charges into the Savings and Loan Scandal that eventually evolved from the article. I'd go into further detail, but alas, it is not my place to educate people. I'll point you in the right direction and allow you to choose which truth to believe in.

Here is the honest, professional truth. It is because of liberals. They think everyone can be rehabilitated and doesn't want anyone to be hurt physically or emotionally. So they push to have all penalties to be the absolute lowest without letting them go free, which happens as well. Instead of protecting the victims they focus on the criminal and how best to handle them without infringing on their rights while forgetting the rights of the victims. Liberals want to hug the criminals and tell them everything is ok and they'll be fine. Now, I said liberals NOT democrats because not all dems feel this way.

Because the soft and weak in our society think you can rehabilitate and educate these sicko's, and then all will be OK. The only way to stop the crimes is to increase the penalties and keep them away from us.
