You can choose to use either your (1) faith or (2) reason. If you choose to use only faith, then you must ignore the physical world about you.. . Religious faith is completely compatible with science as long as religion stays exclusively in the spiritual realm and science stays exclusively in the physical realm. It is only when religion pontificates about the physical world or science speculates about the non-physical that we run into trouble.

It is sometimes shocking to me the general ignorance about our origins but then again I guess it is something I have studied. We did in fact come from apes and I would argue that we should be considered a type of ape. We didn't come from chimps or any other great ape that is alive. The common ancestor of chimps and humans was likely an ape called Toumai who had a brain like a chimp and probably walked on two legs like us. I my opinion, there is only one truth. There can be no separation of church and science. I am not saying that scientist necessarily know the truth, just that science is the search for the truth and if that involves a god then clearly there has to be a scientific explanation. The mountain of evidence for evolution should convince all but those who refuse to look at it. Some try to pretend that they are somehow too superior to have an ape in their ancestry. Frankly for me it is not such a stretch after meeting some of my cousins.

The idea that one species arrives spontaneously from another species is an assumption. It cannot be proven. You have to decide the root of this question: Does it make more sense for a Creator to exist or does it make more sense for matter and order to arise spontaneously out of nothing for no reason. Either God created life or nothing creating matter and order from nothing and life arose against all probability because the elements magically combined into water and minerals. Water and minerals, mixed together with time in various conditions until - poof - a cell appeared containing not only all the cellular structures necessary to keep it intact and alive (cell wall, mitochondria, etc., etc.) but with the encoded information (DNA) necessary to know how to reproduce itself. Where did that information come from?

Everyone knows that humans didn't come "from apes", though some religious fundamentalists seem to think that someone believes that. However, the biological evolution of the human species does not conflict in any way with creation by God, so there is really no "decision" to be made. It isn't an "either-or" situation. Scientists who are atheists naturally believe in atheistic evolution. No surprise there, they also believe in atheistic photosynthesis and mitosis and continental drift and every other natural process. On the other hand, scientists who are believers in God accept the same scientific data that athieistic scientists accept, and interpret it scientifically the same way, and reach the same scientifric conclusions, and thank God for making it so.

Ahhh, the old evolution vs creation debate again.. . Tell me this, how do we know that a higher power didn't start with sea slime, then use whatever power they had to "evolve" the sea slime into a fish into a monkey into us?. Maybe the power was divine (God) or maybe the power was super advanced technology (Aliens).. . I guess that would be called Guided Evolution, or Evolution by Divine Control.

HUMANS DID NOT COME FROM APES. . Humans and apes evolved from the same ancestor.. . Humans moved from the forests/jungles to the plains and because fo this started walking upright .... apes stayed int he trees so didn't.. . This is yet another "question" from someone who knows nothing at all about evolution, yet tries to use false quotes to support creationism.

We appear to be descended from apes to the point that it would be deceitful if we weren't. God isn't the Deceiver, and the Deceiver didn't create mankind, therefore mankind must be descended from apes.

Well...You must consider. 1. your faith. 2. there is enough evidence of some kind of evolution: phosils, etc. . . So, if it is personal, you may want to consider both aspects. I am Roman Catholic, and I do believe there is a God, but I can't say that science is not right about finding those old bones and trying to figure out how enviroment influenced those beings to adaptate.

Each person decides indivudially. GO WITH YOUR HEART! If science makes more sense to you, cool, if faith, also cool. Whatever.
