Best answer
It's the loopback network address. If you try and go there, you are immediately "looped back" to you own machine address.

This IP address is given to localhost, which basically means the IP addr of your own machine. . If you try following command . c:\>ping localhost. then you are sending request to your own machine.

if any ip address that starts from 127.x.x.x, it means it is the loop back address of the host, any packet transmitted to this address comes back to the sender.
