You know the grooves on the back of the tape? Turn the tape so the "eaten" tape is on top and turn the left groove counter-clockwise and turn the groove on the right clockwise. Do it slowly so it isn't further damaged. Get a new VCR, because my grandma's old VCR starting tapes, and then never stopped.

Some have tiny screws holding them together. Take it apart and cut the damaged part out, tape it back together with scotchtape.. If there are no screws, you could break it out, and transfer it to a case that does have screws, or cut the case apart.

That sounds like the heads need to be cleaned, does it do it to more than one tape, or just some tapes?. . Here's what to do:. . 1. get a screw driver. 2. have qtips available. 3. get rubbing alcohol. . Step 1:. open up the vcr. 2. Locate the shiny metal heads (cylinders). 3. saturate the qtip with rubbing alcohol. 4. use the qtip to clean the shiny metal heads. 5. insert a tape while the vcr is still open. 6. find out where it is getitng stuck. 7. use more alcohol in that area. . 8. Make this your best answer if it fixes it.
