I've heard this explination but I can't garuntee it's true. A certain amount of gas builds up oninside your knuckles and by cracking them you relieve the pressure of that gas

supposedly it is popping air bubbles in you joints or something like that. I've heard people say it is bad for your joints, but I've also heard that the worst it can do is maybe stretch out your cartilage a little.

Its a nervous habit.They are bad because, when you get older your fingers will be a little bent and its a bad because they wont be very straight

Personally, I don't crack my knuckles, it's gross. But my boyfriend says that it relieves stress. I heard that if you crack them too much you will get man hands and have big knuckles(that's bad if you are a woman).

it feels good and it gives a slightly greater range of flexibility. The only negative effects proven so far seems to be a slightly reduced grip strength when you are old.
