Splenda is the newest and best - it leaves no aftertaste, you can cook with it and is recommended for diabetics. Equal comes in second, because it rather disappears or "cooks down" when you use it for cooking. All the others leave awful aftertastes in ones mouth. The "point" of artificial sweetners, dah, is to eat sweets and not take in calories, as from sugar.

The point of artificial sweetners is so diabetic people can have sweet things without making themselves sick from eating sugar. Personally, I don't understand why anyone would want to use anything but sugar. Notwithstanding the point I made about diabetics, sugar isn't bad for you! It's fat free and low calorie, so what's the problem with it? Sugar has no nutritive value...no vitamins, minerals, protein, etc. So, sugar really isn't bad for you, but it's not good for you, either. I'd just as soon treat myself to one can of regular Coca Cola a week than to drink 4 or 5 cans of Diet Coke every day. Just wait...20 years from now it'll be found that all artificial sweeteners DO, in fact, cause cancer. Even Splenda, which is made from sugar. I think it has something to do with the manufacturing process. Just wait people...just wait...

I prefer the real thing myself. Artificial sweeteners are just that artificial and you have to wonder about the long term effects of the ingredients they use. I feel that you can have what you want in moderation it's the excess that gets you in trouble! Okay Cutie Pie did I answer your question? HaHa!

Artificial sweetners are a supposed more-healthy supplement for regular sugar, but like Diet soda they turn out to be worse for you. . . As far as difference between the different kinds I'm not sure what, except for flavor and ingredients.. . Hope this helped!

Artificial sweeteners are for people who can't tolerate sugar or use sugar like diabetics. It's also suitable for people who are watching their carbs because they have very little or none. It's also suitable for successful weight loss because they are either very low or no calorie. Equal is Aspartame, Sweet &Lo is Sodium Saccharin, and Splenda is Sucralose and is made from sugar.
