Why does the price of virgin olive oil differ from home heating oil?

There is a lot more home heating oil and it costs less to process. The sad thing is that bottled water costs more than gasoline!!

You answered your own question - imported from Italy. And imagine the process of extracting the oil from the olives. Time-consuming and costly. Corn oil and heating fuel are much easier to produce, and they're refined stateside.

The virgin olive oil is one of the most expensive oils because of the special process and the good nutrition facts that it has in compare with ordinary cooking oils. I also like the smell of it SO MUCH.. Try eating healthy instead of counting the prices!. Good Luck

I know. The jeweler even charged me more then a dollar an ounce for gold and bags of top soil are selling for $1.29 for 40 pounds at Walmart.
