The native americans around Jamestown (Virginia) wanted them off of their land. The native americans around Plymouth (Mass) used the Pilgrims to further their own causes. The land that the Pilgrims settled was actually occupied only 3 years before by the most powerful tribe in the area. That tribe was decimated by disease and 90% of them died out. The Pilgrims were used by that tribe to try to maintain their power. After the death of their chief events eventually led to King Phillip's war, which was the native americans last attempt in the area to get the 'invaders' off of their land.
