What are the reasons for writing poems instead of stories?

in poems one can express any thought without giving it any bindings of any location... it is free just as the thought. but in stories u have to be specific.. abt several details... and that sometimes becomes tough to imagine.

Poetry is a different form of literature. It is usually shorter, more primal, more emotional. Poetry is all about emotion. All of the punch without most of the filler. Also there are rules to most forms of poetry and it is a challenge to effectively portray the emotions that one wants to portray given the lack of free reign.

Maybe they write poems to leave the reader with something to think about...such as "What were they talking about?!"

coz most poems don't make sense for the common folks...you can always get away with a poor poem but not with a poor story ;)

b/c in stories, u have to have a plot. in poems, u just write ne thing. most ppl write poems just to get their feelings out.

good question i guess ppl see it as a more profeesional more romantical way to express themselves nobody wants to read a story about the trees rustling or the leaves crushing on the ground i quess its easier for them to explain.Plus i like reading poems that ryme there cool. . i hope i helped

because they're lazy.... stories are longer than poems. also, poems rhyme, which many women think is cool, so they mostly write poems because they are lazy skirtchasers. or just poetic, maybe. yeah, that could be it,maybe they're just more poetic than storyetic.
