On this site Messenger it is real easy. Just press CTRL + T. Then click other contacts, type in the cell number, and send your messsage like a normal IM. It shouldn't matter what service they have.

If u are on yahoo...go to the actions tab at the top and down to SEND A TEXT MESSAGE...then put the phone # where is says to.

Open your IM look at the top where it says action , click it. Then click send text msg.
