What are the steps to terminate a cell phone contract?

I think the easiest way is to drop down to the very basic service, which is emergency use only. This should only cost like $10 a month or so. Keep paying that until your contract is up, but DO NOT use your phone during that time (pack it away). That way you can afford to still sign up with another service or just not have a cell phone.
