Actually, the Star of David has no meaning whatsoever. It was chosen about 700 years ago by the Jewish community. Everyone back then had a simple symbol for their faith. Come on, two sticks fall over each other and you have a cross. So, the Jews adopted the six pointed star, two triangles intertwined, as our symbol, but it really has no intrinsic meaning in and of itself. The oldest symbol of Jews and Judaism is actually the 7 (seven!) branched candelabra, the Menora, described in the Bible. But it wasnt so simple to draw, so the Jews over time, about 7 hundred years ago adopted the Star, and called it the Star of David.
