What are the key differences between a notebook and a laptop?

There's no difference - both are inter-changeable. Now you have also Tablet PC's - some of those open like laptops but the screen swivels around and then closes with the screen facing out. You use a plastic pen-like stylus to 'handwrite' on the screen while it digitizes your writing.
