Why do people with different personality types tend to be attracted to each other?

People who are physically opposite are often attracted to one-another naturally because if you have two very different sets of genes there is very little chance that any potential offspring will inherit two defective genes and have whatever disorder those genes are from. . . Personality wise? I think it's because if we are weak we need someone who is strong to protect it. Similarly, if we are very serious we need someone who can make us relax. If we are very upset we need someone who can cheer us up. In a partner, we look for the things that we lack in ourselves.

I believe it is because, as humans, we are generally attracted to people with different yet complimentary personalties and skills to that of our own. In this way, we are able to validate ourselves because this other person loves us as we are, regardless of the obvious differences between ourselves.. We then often remark that the other person "completes" us. Well, they actually have! They see us as worthwhile, even if we are still unsure about ourselves :)

there is a distinguishd difference between . similarity' and 'compatibility', +ve charge attracts -ve, a nut fits a bolt, chicken wing eaters love chicken breast eaters, however peopel with opposite (ideaologies) would not attrack, a lier could not be attractive to an honest person 4 example, so opposite is good only in some things
