Common sense is that knowledge learned by experience that refers to actions or responses to be a customary response that almost all people would do or say in a given circumstance--: for excample, when it is raining hard and very windy it would be "common sense" to close the door to keep out the wind and rain. If person was arriving loaded down with packages in the rain or wind it would be "common sense" to hold the door open for him/her even though it is rainy and windy. i.,e, the circumstance determins the usual and customary responses to a given situation as "common sense."

Oh, it's there. People just ignore it. It's that little voice saying, "Ummm.. are you sure that's how you do it?" or "I don't know... it didn't work last time." When someone says "it's just common sense", they mean your little voice was right, you should have listened to it.

Common sense isn't as rare as it is underused. People need to just stop and think before they speak, use our godgiven talent and stop trying to impress people with a bunch of jargon. If you just take your time and think common sense usually is what comes to mind first.
