Red Cross is the richest probably.. Yes, they still are a non-profit, becoz most of the ppl who work for them are volunteers.

The only thing with non-profit is that they are not taxable.. But they incur expenses like any other organization or company (let's face it, they are companies) with salaries, overhead expenses, etc.. Which again proves that about 80-90% of the money goes to costs and the rest to charities or good causes.. . Rather sad, isn't it.

I haven't seen the stats, but both the American Red Cross and the World Health Organization have to be up there. Nonprofit? In that league, it's not a black and white term. I believe that the mega-nonprofits do good, because a lot of money does go to people who need it. But I also know that they have a lot of very well paid executives who are on salaries that are pretty competitive with the for-profit sector, so someone DOES profit from their activities.
