I know it does set up your day, when we praise first thing our praises are inhabited by God. When we petition God we are acknowledging our need of help and our dependence on God's loving grace and mercy. In Proverbs 3 vs 5...Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." I could do with straight paths in my journey. That doesn't mean there won't be ups and downs but that with God's guidance you will get there. Reminding ourselves that we are servants of Christ and giving our day to Him and when we ask He always answers. Not always "Yes" sometimes "No." and sometimes "Wait." I sometimes go it alone and it just isn't the same. Sometimes mothers wait until the children are at school or the baby is having a sleep. As soon as you call out to God He will walk with You through Your day. I also try to remember to direct little arrow prayers during my day. "Bless my children Lord," "please pour out Your grace and mercy on ....." It will get easier the more you do it. There's a prayer wheel somewhere that tells you different areas and things you can pray about. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and start with Praise for every good thing you can think of. Tell Him your worries, your plans, dwell on His promises. Pray a Psalm that blesses you or applies to your life experience. . I have a journal handy as often I write down what the Bible tells me that stands our for me or what the Holy Spirit says to me in His still quiet voice. (It will always line up with the Bible.)If its not important enough to pray about then its not important. You can use the time to learn verses or paragraphs or chapters of the Bible. God's word is living and active, sharper than a two edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." Also... we can fight against principalities and powers in the Heavenlies with the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Under attack spiritually?then use God's Word. . Like this....Thank you Father that Your word says.....it is written........I believe..... .....So you proclaim the verses three times. You will see that persevering in prayer has definite results tho at times it will seem that everything is against your praying. Sometimes 2 friends pray by phone before they leave for work. Ask God questions ...he will teach you how to hear the answers. Onward and upwards.
