How can one effectively reduce fat in the hip and thigh area?

i don't know about fat. but i know that squats tone up those areas.

Cardio , cardio and more cardio.You have to jog alot and or ride a bike, try spinning classes at your local gym, it really help burn those anwanted calories and ofcourse you have to eat healthy and right, it;s not gonna help if you dont have a good diet but exercise.

just exercise everyday. run as much as you can. i read an article once that said that if you go run in the morning you lost more weight. in the morning you go run and you don't eat anything, just take a bottled water with you. the article said that since your body hasn't eaten anything, then you burn the carbs inside your body, hence losing weight. eat healthy too. if you eat fat then your just burning off the fat that you eat during the day. eat vegetables.

do leg lifts (you can find exercise books for that like "Banish your Belly, Butt, and Thighs Forever!") that one's really good. Also reduce your caloric intake. Eat more fruits and veggies and lean meats, less carbohydrates (just don't completely cut them out of your diet or you'll have no energy!). . you can also ask your doctor about it.

You can't spot reduce one area, the only way to reduce fat from your hips & thighs is to lower your body weight as a whole. You can however tone the area up through excercise which will make it appear slimmer and sleaker.

It is not possible to reduce fat in a single area (like the hips or the Thighs) without surgery. Body fat is lost all over. So the best way to reduce fat is by doing exactly what it is most people don't want to hear: Diet and Excercise. As for the best excercise? Well, low intensity cardio (jogging.. Etc) for long periods of time (greater than 20 minutes) is generally regarded as the best activity for burning fat.
