To get ahead in life or for the money. The police are exposed to Rich criminals everyday. They see the flaws and mistakes the criminals make and believe that they have the inside track to succeed in the game.

Not all police conspire to commit crimes. There are some in every group. For those whom do commit crimes, they have the criminal intent to begin with. I can go over a list of many police officers involved with crime as well as those whom are pedophile predators. The unfortunate part is that police look after police and exposure of the criminal intent is refrained as much as possible from the media. I think it should be the other way, exposure to the maximum would be a deterrent. Those police whom commit crimes believe they are in a position to which they can control evidence and feel untouchable. The hard ones to catch in this situation is the ones whom have high positions over others. Rookies often know what their higher upper is doing but, for lack of tangible evidence, the rookies are not going to risk their advancement by speaking out.

Isn't that rather a blanket indictment? Shouldn't you say why do SOME? I really, really want to believe that the vast majority of our police force is honest, hard working and moral. Like any other given group, I'm sure there are some bad apples, but that's just the human condition.
