I would recommend you first put your mind in a neutral position. Then start reading and observing. if you find you still have seteotypical thinking, then either you are right, you never put your mind in a neutral position or you missed something.

You just took the first step: not Yahoo Answers, but recognizing the problem. . . Pray for God to renew your thinking. He will! Join a group/club that celebrates the specific group(s) you stereotype, if possible. You'll see bunches of people that aren't like the stereotype. But guess what. You might find some who ARE. So? And then you'll realize people are people, and we're all different. Stay away from TV, movies and other people that could feed your bias. Then consider whether others looking at you will stereotype YOU and think, "Man, look at those 'White people/women/goths/or whatever group you identify with,' they're all alike.". . Hmmm...

usually we think that way because we dont know or were ignorant to certain people and situations. You probably wont ever lose this way of thinking but you can at least educate your self and lessen how much you think in certain ways.

Immerse yourself in a safe environment with people whom you have the stereotype of. Most times you might find out that their personality changes your whole perspective of the person. If not research the stereotype.

Rubber band technique: put a rubber band on your wrist and when you have negative, stereotypical thoughts-- pop it. Your brain then associates those thoughts with pain and will avoid them. This is known as a psychological "adversion" strategy and works on most people to change thinking patterns.
