Although I am a fan of Sweeny Todd... I absolutely love . "Into the Woods", maybe i think it speaks more to the human condition, and hope, dreams, and weaknesses we all have.. . and on the plus side, most of the tunes are fabulous, and stick with you for days, if not a life time!

"Sunday" has second act troubles, as does "Into the Woods". "Company" is far too dated, and "Forum" too juvenile. I'd have to agree that "Sweeney" is the best: a cohesive plot that keeps the audience gripped, different musical stylings. Close second is a tie with "A Little Night Music" and "Follies". I've only heard the score for each and found them captivating.

As a musician, A Little Night Music is definitely it. We still get requests for "that song"! I don't think we've had requests from any of his other shows except Company.

As much as I like Sunday in the Park with George, I'm going to have to go with Sweeney Todd. It's just so rich and textured musically.

I think "Sunday..." is clever but loses some of its charm in the second act. "Sweeney Todd" is brilliant and many would call it a masterpiece. Some might opt for "A Little Night Music" because of the challenge of creating a musical all in waltz time. "Follies" has great music. Myself, I have always enjoyed "Company" above the others.
