Kerry's comments have been hashed, rehashed, and explained a million times over already. He's been very clear, and his explanation can only be quite deliberately misunderstood by those with an absolute determination to misunderstand, and to mislead as many people as possible.. . I doubt very much that anyone with a real grasp on what's at stake in this election is going to be easily swayed by the kind of grotesque political/media contortions we're seeing. They're more likely to be disgusted. . . People who are on the fence are surely there because they are considering their country's well-being. Whether they like Kerry or not, or are voting Democrat or not, it's really horrible to see Bush and his supporters seizing on this incident, trying to inflate it to such a degree that it hides what's happening in Iraq. The news coming out of there is appalling. No one who cares about that reality is going to be fooled by the smoke screen.
