they look at paul as their role model, who was celibate, and also try to be, though he said that theyre better off being married if they're going to want sex, than to want it while swearing it off, and being tempted all the time. celibacy is not for everyone, only very few, and priests really should not have to remain in that condition unless they feel that they actually can, and it should be a personal choice

It's an archaic practice first developed so man could walk in the path of Jesus, who historically was unwed. A more practical reason is when a young man entered the priesthood all his wordly goods became property of the church

you are refuring to cathlic preists they thae a vow to marry the church and the church then becomes their famly but there are other priests as well who get their gidence from the holy sprit who go as an ordanary man who can marry but do gods work in secret, they pray and and proficy in secret and tell no one of thir presthood the hael the sick and preform mericals but they are alowed to do more for god becouse of this you may look at one of these and never know it for they may be your clerck at the grocery store the bum on the street or any one any where and the tell no one of the work they do. a high priest ordaned by god it is between god and him and no one else knows it is sacred and no one would belive it anyway but god does work in mysterious ways.

They can but they make their own rules. Just like nuns. God told Adam and Eve to go out and fill the earth. Different religions have their own beliefs. They try to be perfect like Jesus byt that's not possible because Jesus was the only perfect human on earth.

"Priestly celibacy clearly indicates faith in divine truths and in the world to come. It leaves the priest free to exercise his ministry without having to care for a family. His "family" extends to the limits of the earth.". . Basically meaning priests should do all they can to serve God and having a family gets in the way of that.

It really depends upon the religion involved whether or not the priest can or cannot get married. Catholic priests take on a vow of celebacy as part of their vows. In the Episcopal and Lutheran churches, priests are allowed to be married, although depending on the person's PERSONAL reasons, they may choose not to. I am not sure if the Methodist faith considers their religious leaders "Priests", but I know they also can be married.

Some religions require their priests to commit themselves to God completely. A marriage is a commitment to another person. Some priests and nuns have a "marriage" to their God or their Church.
