Why do some people perceive Halloween as satanic when it has pagan origins?

Because it deals with the dead and evil spirits. People always tend to view evil as having to do with the devil/Satan. Then include with that belief the symbols of the black cat, witches, bats and spiders, all symbols of evil or bad things, and the stories of the dead roaming the earth, etc., you have a bunch of people thinking that Halloween is bad.. Nevermind the fact that it was started as a celebration of the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter, nor that the Halloween that we observe was actually started by the "Church" to honor saints and to cleanse the spirits of the dead so they may go into Heaven.

Because "Christians" are "devil" happy when it comes to something they don't understand or are willing to learn about. And that includes every other belief!

i think its because the are ignorant but if we want to be true to our self the opposite of hot is cold ,dark- light wet -dry so obviously if its not of God its of the devil there's no denying that,its a fact

You mean Satanic? That was a made up lie. Samhain was/is a Pagan holiday and Halloween has roots all over the world. It's actually a mish mash of several traditions.. . I agree with the Hollywood theory as well. Hollywood has misrepresented pagans, witches and the pentacle for ages.

Actually it goes back beyond the Roman latin use of Pagans for the peoples north of Italy. It is a large mixture of fall festivals, but the clearest one is the evening of honor and meal for those who died since during the last year. These were dumb dinners where a place was laid for those who could only attend in spirit and gifts of honor were laid at those places. The children were given the gifts at the end of the Dinner. . . Now, on the other end of the question. Satan hadn't even been invented by the Christians when the tradition began--there were no Christians. Also, Satan is a twisting of the Hebrew word Shaitan--evil--and was never personified by the hebrews.

I don't know anyone that views Halloween as SATANIC. Even though it began with the PAGANS. Maybe because a popular Halloween costume is a devil?

There are people out there who think Pagans are satanic, they don't know anything about it.. . But I blame it on Hollywood movies. After all that is how our culture learns about others... we grow up sitting in front of the boob tube.
