What are the factors that contribute to bad breath?

It is from bacteria in the mouth or from acid reflux from the stomach. . . Brushing the teeth and/or getting help from a doctor for the acid issues are the cures.

Bacteria forms on the tongue. If you're worried, sitck your tongue out in the mirror and see if it's yellow. If so, mouthwash is in order! Also, brush your tongue when you brush your teeth. :-)

a person can have bad breath even after brushing their teeth and tongue. so suggesting someone brush their teeth wont solve the problem in some cases. i suggest going to a dentist find make sure it's not a serious health problem.

well anything you eat leaves an oder in your mouth the smell depends on the food...i think one peice of gralic or onion would make anyones breath smell bad....ummm usually i use toothpaste or a breathmint...what else would you use to make your breath smell nicer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! duh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's bacteria that feed off food residue left in your mouth into smelly (usually sulfur-containing) compounds. I eat onions and garlic all the time with no breath trouble. That's because I brush my teeth regularly. Keeping a good dental hygiene routine should prevent this: brushing, flossing, getting a check-up and cleaning regularly. And clean your tongue - it's a veritable hotbed for bacteria.
