How can a couple who has a demonic entity in their home get rid of it?

well obviously it isn't a christian demon or it would have left with the crosses and such. have you looked into the fact they it might not be a bad spirit at all? have you attempted to communicate with it and find out why it is there?. I would say you need to find out what you are dealing with and why before trying to banish it or you may end up in more trouble than you are now.
