What are some reasons people prefer dogs or cats and how do these preferences vary?

I like both, but I am more of a cat person. I like to sit quiety and enjoy have a warm body cuddle with while I read a book or answer this site questions. Dogs seem to needy and are constantly wanting to go inside, outside, panting because it's too hot, etc..

I don't know how. I like both dogs and cats. Dogs are happy to see you no matter what. Cats are glad to see you when it suits them.

Is the question, "Who likes dogs and who likes cats and why?". . . If so, I rather have an dog over an cat. Due to dogs mouths are much cleaner and cats stink up houses.
