I don't know what system Canada has, but here we use Cheksystems. That system is a database of information from financial institutions. If you have a history of bouncing checks, debit card abuse, check kiting, and any thing else of that nature it will show up and legally you can be denied a checking account. We actually try to work with customers that have a negative report with check systems. We give them a savings account with out a debit card, sometimes we give them a probationary checking account. It depends on the situation and the type of information. I would assume that Canada has something similar.
