Best answer
If the cat prefers the shoe box to poo in I wouldn't try to change it. It could be much worse - as you can tell by reading some of the other questions about where cats prefer to go.

Remove the shoe box. If she can not get to it, she can not poo in it.

I am sorry but I have never had that problem. My cat is like a dog. She meows at the garage door when she needs to go out and do her business. If I am not home she'll wait till I get home. I just got lucky and got a good cat.
