Sometimes they're dirty.. . Sometimes Internal Affairs just wants a sacrificial lamb to show that they're fighting corruption.

They love internal affairs, these are police officers that have the job of investigating other cops. Its a job that some one has to do.

for the same reason people yuppies hate traffic cops - they're used to getting away with whatever they feel like, with no oversight or expectation of responsibility.

Internal Affairs is the department that investigates cops. I suspect the ones who are dirty don't like it because they might get caught. For the ones who are good cops I suspect it is similar to an innocent person being questioned by the police.

Because the job of internal affairs is to air dirty laundry, and if they are dirty, you bet those cops are anti-internal affairs, and with good reason.

Some interesting answers so far....but the simplest one is the truest:. . When you were a kid, and you got yourself in trouble, did you find yourself liking your parents all that much?. . Same thing, really.

Internal Affairs is the division of police organizations that polices the police. If there is any accusation of police corruption, Internal Affairs is the org that investigates. Therefore, cops look upon IAB as the "rat squad," because it's generally thought (among officers) that it's wrong for police to punish or investigate other police.

Most officers dont like IA because most departments have the uncanny ability to find the biggest dipshit to do the job. Instead of acting like a normal investigator, these guys will normally be absolutely worthless. Asking stupid questions or just being complete jerks, doing there best to hang the officer instead of just looking for the truth. Most officers would love to find an IA detective that was good and efficient at his job because not only are the IA there to weed those who have commited offenses, they are also there to protect the many who have not

Some police officers don't like IA because they see them as a bureaucratic organization whose intentions are to judge them on situations that they know nothing about first hand. When an IA investigation is centered around a particularly stressful situation in which the police officer's reaction could conflict with the law or departmental policy, the police officer may see their investigation with a "you weren't there so you don't know" attitude. Departmental policies already frustrate many police officers - adding IA to a situation can make it even more frustrating.

because most cops believe that they can do no wrong and that the end justifies the means so any oversight at all is bad
