How do you know marriage was created by God; any justice of the peace can marry you.Was God married?

And how do you know that marriage "was an institution created by God"? How? When? Please give me some evidence of that and please don't quote scripture because you can't use a thing to prove itself...

The institution of marriage was created by MAN not god. I think Atheists know what marriage is and I'm pretty sure that they can love others enough to want to spend the rest of their lives with someone.

perhaps because they love each other?. Marriage is not neccesarily a religious institution, just for those who believe that it is. For me, Marriage is about two people who love each other.

Talk sense. Marriage was around long before God was invented.

LOL! Why do a lot of people think that it's an institution created by God? I don't recall anywhere in history (not even the Bible)where God came down and conducted a ceremony. Mankind created the institution.. Good luck on the wedding plans :)

Atheists divorce rates are much much lower thank Christians'. Why do you even bother getting married if more than likely it will end up in divorce?

Marriage is not an institution created by Dog. It is a pact between two people. Hokey religions have absolutely nothing to do with it.

Things such as people wanting to celebrate their love for each other, feel committed to someone, feel secure in their relationship has existed for longer than religion. Marriage wasn't created by God, it was created by human beings. I'm an atheist and I want to get married to be joined to the person I love.
