When I got home from school each day, it was 4.30 and I would sleep from 4.30 until 6pm on the sofa, then get dinner and do homework. I found this "catnap" did me the power of good and recharged the batteries before I started any homework. I did this for 7 years from first to upper sixth year and I think it was great. I know the pressure on kids these days is crazy, but if you have a nap, then 4 hours of homework after beign well rested, will be more useful than 6 hours of homework when not rested properly.
