How can I set Windows Media Player as my default media player?

set program access and defaults. . if you have windows xp sp2 with latest updates, you should have that located somewhere in your start menu

In Windows Media Player, select Tools, Options, File Types and place a tick next to the file type that you would like Media Player to open. This sets the default player. Even if every thing is checked click select all and apply

just click on the "Search" button under the "programs" menu and search for "windows media player." install it then make it your default player when it asks you in the middle of the installation process. for updates for your media player check out: filehippo.com

in the folder option tab select the file types and find .dat .mpeg or other types to be palyed by windows media player

Open windows media player, in the upper side select tools and then options, there you can find many options to configure the porformance of the player, also you can find set as default player.
