Best answer
Maximize Windows Media player.. Select Tools, then Options, then FileTypes, press select all.. press apply then ok.. Mind you Winamp and MusicMatch will hijack these selections if used.

have you checked on your my computer under your cd drive you can select properties and then select the actions to perform when a certain media is inserted into the drive

right click on the file (audio or video). Open with > Choose program > windows media player > Check "always use the program" > OK
