You can use Nero 6 software to burn video files in VCD format, as most of the DVDs do support VCD files. So go to NERO, click on Photo and Video (it depends on version to version but you can find this option easily), burn Video CD and you are ready.

First thing you need to know what format of video file you want to play on your dvd player bcoz every dvd player has its specific playbility to play different formats. If u are confident that your dvd can handle that file you need to have a cd writer and a cd burner software. Its very simple after that just drag and drop those files from your source to destination .Now your need to convert these files into vcd format or svcd format. I recommenend NERO burner for this job.

make sure that your video files which you wanted to copy into a cdr is in mpeg or mpg or divx format, otherwise most videos in avi format can't be played in an ordinary external dvd or vcd player. try to purchase the most recent players in the market which support divx or mpeg4 video formats so that you'll not have a hard time playing your video files in cdr. go to www.softwareclub.ws and try downloading their free multiple video converter. good luck!

You can make VCDs using programs but I highly doubt a home player will support CD-RWs. Just spend $36 and get a DVD burner..
