Why do women often focus on a man's income?

Rick,. . women are preoccupied with your pocketbook because they see money as security in a relationship. They are really insecure and need a man to be a provider!

We aren't! . . While we are making generalizations here, why do men seem to be so preoccupied with a woman's bra size?

This shows low self-esteem.. . Darnit ... daddy didn't teach me this ... consequently, I've been able to build a nice nest for myself; but it's lonely when so many men who can't support themselves are around ... so I'm learning the HARD WAY that a man's wallet is important .... . Hmmm I guess it's only taken me 7 guys to come to this conclusion. I guess just like when you see a fat women many conclude that she doesn't care about herself (low self esteem) --- so we can conclude that a man without a retirement plan - house - car does not care about himself therefore will never care about any woman he's with because of his own low self-esteem.

They are not stupid. Woman have brains. Most are smarter than us men. A lot pretend otherwise, but never forget they are Smart!

Rick, I am a woman and I've never cared about the guy's income. But I am changing my mind because I noticed that guys who make less money than me TEND (not saying all) to be bothered by it. They show it by becoming really insecure! I didn't see the pattern before, but now that I'm older, I realize that I need to find a man who is "successful" in his own eyes coz if he doesn't feel this way -- usually successful = more money -- he is not happy and therefore, I am not happy.

Judging from many responses on this forum, it is because they want security, but I would say no one needs as much "security" as some spoiled women seem to believe they are entitled to. I make great money, am single and have no trouble finding dates, but I would be very picky before marrying anyone and would, in all cases, prefer a humble woman with values over one who thought about money and things she could buy with it.
