What are the main differences between a consumer notebook and a business notebook?

There is no difference... it's the perception.. They're exactly the same models made by Dell, HP, IBM, Compaq, etc. Some come packaged with software that is for business applications (MS-Office, etc.), and have more-lucrative warranties for business people, but they are all made to the same specifications.

If you are comparing the same system specification between consumer and business, generally they are the same. The big difference is warranty and financing. Usually most business laptops come with a longer warranty, but also a higher price.
